Nike+ GPS app released for iPhone

Nike+ GPS AppNike apps have for long been assisting users to track their progress and be able to realize their true potential. The company has released a new Nike+ GPS application, blending in Nike+ with the utility of a GPS for the iPhone. This software helps runners visually map each and every run of theirs while recording details like calories-burned, pace, distance and time.

As they map their run they can even record their routes, breakdown of pace along with the distance at different spots during the run. It even allows them to check out their actual location while running with a simple tap. The app works smoothly by using both the GPS and the accelerometer. The GPS and the accelerometer can together track and map a run be it indoors, outdoors, on a track or treadmill. In the absence of a GPS signal, the accelerometer alone can keep a tab on the details to be recorded.

“We are so excited to introduce the true ‘Runner’s App’ for iPhone combining the dynamic power and community of Nike+ with the user-friendly functionality of GPS and accelerometry,” said Stefan Olander, VP, Nike Digital Sport. “We will continue to evolve the digital options we provide to runners so that their running experience is always unique and inspired.”

Moreover, they can receive motivating messages from famous athletes like Paula Radcliffe and Lance Armstrong as well as from comedian Tracy Morgan. These messages will be received when users achieve certain customized goals, or when they attain their personal best. The software even offers in-run feedback. It even connects runners with those from the world over via nikeplus.com. They can wirelessly connect and save their last run and share it with friends through SNSs like Twitter or Facebook.

The Challenge Me function enables athletes to test and push themselves harder to run faster, longer or farther as compared to their last one. It keeps a check on the run history in order to individualize challenges. They can partake in running challenges, track the progress they have made on their goals and download coaching programs.

The Nike+ GPS App can be downloaded for $1.99 from the App Store.
