ZTE Grand S price out, company to show off ‘slimmest’ 5-inch handset at CES 2013

Whoever knew that the ZTE Grand S price and unveiling date would surface only a day after the China-based manufacturer launched its first 1080p smartphone? The company seems quite excited about the phablet’s debut at the CES 2013, but doesn’t stop right there.

It goes on to mention that the Grand S will be merely 6.9mm thin. Now that sure takes away the title of the slimmest 5-inch full HD phablet from the Nubia Z5. Whether it’ll be the leanest of them all, is what stands to be seen in a matter of few weeks.

Grans S At CES

A post on Unwired View speaks about a 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor fueling the gadget. Apparently, it wasn’t officially declared by the OEM and MyDrivers is presumably the source of this bit of information. The onboard storage and slots for expansion haven’t been pointed out to. However, 2GB of RAM has been fitted within the form factor as far as system memory is concerned.

Recent times have witnessed increasing attention towards a phone’s camera and its features. Not stepping away from the Nubia in this aspect, the handset in question is also endowed with a 13MP snapper. Apparently, the device will be picking up an array of specifications from the Z5. But the battery capacity which is 3,000mAh in the former, will be 2,500mAh in the latter.

Nubia Launch

The gadget will most likely be found encased in ceramic material. So far, these are all the details we can lay down on the table. It seems we’ll just have to hang around till the official launch in Las Vegas to get the information related to the OS, accurate memory, approximate battery life and more.

The ZTE Grand S is rumored to land on January 8, 2013 at the CES. It may bear a price tag of 2,799 yuan, which translates into $449 or €340. If there is even a slight chance this might be the actual cost, buyers can hope to take the device home for much less as compared to the Z5 which will be shipping out starting from 3,456 yuan.

Let’s quickly run through the expected specifications of the phablet:

– 5-inch touchscreen display, 1,980 x 1,080 pixels
– 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
– 2GB of RAM
– 13MP camera
