The ZTE Grand S has finally leaped to the fore and China is the first country to be at the receiving end. The OEM uncovered the smartphone and went on to confirm some rumors relating to the specifications.
With a 6.9mm thin body, the Grand S becomes one of the thinnest phablets in the market and dethrones the 7.6mm Nubia Z5 which also belongs to ZTE. As we guessed, the handset bears a 5-inch touchscreen display with the capability of reproducing visuals in full HD.
The company does mention that the device will be rocking Android Jelly Bean out of the box, but keeps the version of the OS a secret. The incorporated 13MP camera explains the slight bump on the flip side and it packs features such as auto focus, face recognition, anti-shake and so on.
A 2MP snapper escorts itself to the front panel and is capable of allowing live video conferencing. The device’s unveiling has done away with the ambiguity concerning the internal memory. Users will be able to hoard up to 16GB of content internally, though doubts regarding the expansion capabilities haven’t been settled still.
The phablet will be fueled by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.7GHz and not 1.5GHz as expected, but the buzz about it encasing 2GB of RAM stands to be true. Even with the official declaration, certain specifications such as the battery capacity and connectivity attributes are yet left unannounced. We are assuming the device holds onto a 2,500mAh cell just like previous rumors state.
The ZTE Grand S will first launch in China and it is supposed to pop up anytime during the first quarter of the year. Even though a possible price had earlier been speculated to be CN¥2,799, the company hasn’t confirmed any information dealing with the cost. The handset has been put on display at the trade show in Las Vegas at present.
