Zomm harnesses mobile phones to owners

Zomm

The stories of individuals losing mobile phones due to their forgetfulness are quite common. Zomm, the latest product to show off the trophy of ‘Best Innovation’ at the CES, helps handset owners keep their phones on a leash. This device has been created by Laurie Penix and her husband Henry. After being exhibited at the CES, it is currently on sale in the U.K.

With the help of Bluetooth connectivity, the gadget prevents the loss of a mobile phone by vibrating, flashing or setting off an alarm every time owners walk away from their handsets. On crossing the pre-set distance of 9m to 20m, the product will alert users in the above mentioned ways. Measuring up to the size of 50p coin, this unit can be simply attached to a key ring for effortless portability. It can be paired with any Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.

“Zomm not only protects a mobile phone and the personal information kept on that device, but it can also help keep you and your family safe,” stated Laurie Penix, Zomm’s co-founder. “With kids in school, it gives me peace of mind to know they have a panic alarm that will deter a would-be attacker, and the ability to call for emergency assistance in any situation.”

“Everyone can relate to either losing or forgetting their mobile phone, so we created Zomm to help prevent people from experiencing the exasperating and expensive process of getting a replacement. And it’s not just the phone – it’s the pictures, contacts and other personal information that’s so important,” asserted Henry Penix, CEO and co-founder of Zomm.

Zomm incorporates a fully functioning speakerphone that embeds a noise-canceling microphone. Its volume can be adjusted from the paired handset. Hitting the multifunction button will set of a panic alarm, whilst prolonged pressing down of the button immediately calls the local emergency assistance. This feature appears to be quite similar to the SOS function of the iBuzz Senior mobile phone we had seen back in the month of November.

Handset owners can effortlessly send calls to voicemail by tapping on the multifunction button twice, whereas a single hit will answer the call using Zomm as the speakerphone. The phone which is connected to this solution via Bluetooth can be muted trough this unit. It comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery that proffers up enough juice to keep the device up and going for up to three days on normal usage. This peripheral is packed with a microUSB cord and microUSB wall charger.

Zomm can be picked up in shades of black or white for £79.99 by the denizens of the U.K.
