The Zen Sonic 1 budget smartphone has been released exclusively on eBay India for Rs 5999, targeting the highly competitive entry-level market. The Indian manufacturer has packed the phone with decent enough specs for its price point.
The screen of the Zen Sonic 1 measures 5 inches and displays visuals at 480p resolution. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core SoC coupled with an Adreno 306 GPU. A 2000mAh battery sustains the handset through 22 hours of talk time on 2G and 13 hours on 3G, with a standby time of 264 hours for both.
In terms of memory, the Zen phone has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD. It has a dual-LED flash enabled 5MP autofocus rear camera and a 2MP front snapper. The device can carry two SIM cards, a micro-SIM and a standard SIM. On the connectivity front, it supports 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.
The handset has three additional functions unique to the brand. SHAREit allows users to share photos, apps and videos across devices without an internet connection or Wi-Fi. CLONEit transfers data from their previous phone to the Sonic 1. SYNCit backs up contacts, logs and SMS messages.

The Zen Sonic 1 will have to face popular heavyweights like the Xiaomi Redmi 2, available for Rs 5999 after its recent cost reduction. The latter is a 4G-ready dual-SIM device that has an 8MP camera, a 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor and a 2200mAh battery. Its screen is smaller at 4.7 inches, but has 720p resolution. The device further contains Android KitKat 4.4.4, 8GB of ROM and 1GB of RAM.
