The new version of the official YouTube app for Android that has been let loose brings in 3 major improvements for melding into ICS. The utility has been redesigned keeping in mind both on-the-move and home video streaming.

Considering that we’re talking about a small screen size here, the Android app provides a more streamlined experience. On the left panel of the screen, there’s a guide which enables quick access to the desired channels along with a feed. The last mentioned collection is updated on a regular basis with new videos that crop up each time.

Another feature incorporated within the application allows users to watch their videos hoarded on the ‘Watch Later’ list smoothly in spite of a slow internet connection. Basically, the phone needs to be charging or hooked up via USB, during which the required videos from the aforesaid assortment can be buffered over Wi-Fi. Though the internet is still required for playing the videos, at least the buffering will be taken care of.

Thirdly, favorite channels can be perused on large screen TVs, owing to the app’s TV integration feature. The application or the mobile YouTube website can be used for locating more videos and playing them on big screens. Likewise, functions like commenting, ‘liking’ and subscribing should be a breeze.

The utility is compatible with just ICS and higher versions, says the official YouTube blog. Earlier operating systems will receive the updates in the future. Those accessing the mobile YouTube website or alternate versions of the app can avail of their subscriptions by selecting the same after logging in.
