Yahoo announced its new Yahoo! Mobile service, a starting point to the internet. The service comes with a rich design and interactivity, Yahoo Mobile offers an open environment within which users can bring all their favorite content and services together.

The new Yahoo! Mobile service will be available as an application to the Apple iPhone, Nokia, RIM, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and Motorola as well as phones that use Windows Mobile O/S.

“We believe the new Yahoo! Mobile will transform the way millions of mobile users around the world will interact with the Internet,” remarks Marco Boerries, executive vice president, Yahoo! Inc. “Yahoo! Mobile will enable users to create their own Internet starting point on their mobile device so they can better discover, connect to and stay informed about the people and things that are important to them.”

The new service includes Yahoo’s award winning mobile search, editor selected content, new map tools as well as access to email and social networking accounts, address book and instant messaging. Users can get the latest news on sports, weather, RSS feeds, stocks, new sources, horoscopes and many more.

Yahoo’s oneSearch feature will offer quick and relevant information required by a user. The Today feature will bring most interesting stories on the internet selected by Yahoo’s editorial team. The oneConnect feature of Yahoo will allow users to access Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and AOL Mail. The Pulse feature will allow users to access social networking sites like FaceBook, Bebo, Flickr, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube.

Moreover, the smartphone version phones can also take advantage of Yahoo Maps, enhanced widgets, Opera Mini and oneSearch with Voice feature that will allow users to search by simply speaking. The service will provide all the internet features in a mobile phone.

The Yahoo! Mobile for mobile Web and for the iPhone will be launched in March 2009 while the smartphone version will be available in late May. Initially each version of Yahoo! Mobile will be available in US, France, UK, Canada Indonesia, Philippines and India.
