Yahoo Flickr 3.0 for Android and iOS is faster, gets Auto Sync and HD videos

Yahoo’s Flickr 3.0 is the latest version of the iOS and Android app which connects users to the image and video hosting service, and the old interface has been blown to bits. The refresh will make you blink twice before realizing that you’re not on Instagram, but the new version of Flickr.

Yahoo has been taking its pick of startups including LookFlow and QuikIO over the past few months and it seems like these moves are paying off. Flickr 3.0 has a quicker and more responsive interface as well as the ability to let users capture 30 seconds of HD video while employing the same live filter effects which are available for picture-taking.

Account holders on Flickr are allotted 1TB of storage and the application will now allow people to take full advantage of this much space by offering to upload via Auto Sync original photos on your phone to the cloud. LookFlow’s image recognition technology comes to the rescue for the next interesting addition to the app.

Apart from searching by date or place, you can also look for pictures by scene or object such as sunset, car or portrait. Flickr 3.0 is more social than ever before, now boasting of options which permit users to Explore and discover new photographers, leave comments or ‘favorite’ images shared by others.

The older features worth mentioning cover 14 live filters, the choice to edit photos after you’ve clicked them, sharing via Facebook/Tumblr/Twitter and so on. The user interface of the application is not exactly the same for iPhone and Android, though the controls are easy enough to understand on both.
