Sports fans can now follow the latest buzz ringing across various fields such as football, basketball and cricket among others. ESPN discloses the availability of ESPN network, ESPNU, ESPN2 and ESPN3.com to Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOS TV subscribers. These offerings can be accessed through the new WatchESPN App which is fashioned for the iPhone as well as the iPad and iPod touch.

The app arrives onto the scene providing eager sports enthusiasts with coverage of the NBA Playoffs, the early rounds of the Masters and the beginning of the Major League Baseball season. Subscribers of Verizon FiOS TV, Bright House Networks and Time Warner Cable who have access to video subscription of the linear networks can enjoy all the exciting content directly through their handset device.

“Innovation continues to drive ESPN,” stated George Bodenheimer, president, ESPN, and ABC Sports. “When we launched in 1979, nobody envisioned a day when people would carry ESPN in their pockets. But here we are. And we’ve reached this watershed moment for the industry through tremendous collaboration with forward-thinking partners.”

The latest WatchESPN App comes complete with a simple user interface while infusing high-resolution current online viewing into the Apple devices. Users can take advantage of the ESPN content after downloading the software and entering their cable subscriber credentials.

Sean Bratches, executive vice president, sales and marketing for ESPN said, “This represents the culmination of our efforts over the last five years. We strive to serve the sports fan wherever they consume sports, and I can’t think of a better way to do that than making our networks available to fans whenever and wherever they might be.”

Back in October last year, the company unveiled an online-accessible authenticated version of ESPN. With the month of January 2011, the authenticated version of ESPNU, ESPN2 and ESPN Buzzer Beater/Goal Line hit the entertainment terrain.

The WatchESPN App is now available on the App Store absolutely free of cost. Apple iPad owners can get their hands on the app next month. The company further reveals that the app is excepted to hit tablets and other smartphones in the near future.
