Vringo teams up with Hungama for video ringtone platform service

Vringo Logo Bored of dull monotonous ringtones or want to customize ringtones with video, images or slideshows? Well, it has just got possible. Vringo, in collaboration with Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, has officially announced the launch of its new video ringtone platform across India.

Vringo had formalized an agreement with Hungama back in the year 2009 to add premium entertainment content from the later to its video content library. Both the companies will mutually share the total revenues garnered from distribution of the service. This video ringtone service will be made available to around 500 million consumers on 15 varied Indian network operators such as BhartiAirtel, Tata and Reliance.

“We have now rolled out our platform in India, the second largest mobile market in the world by number of subscribers. The service is live with 15 operators and features the most popular Bollywood titles and scenes provided by Hungama. We are confident that the Vringo-Hungama service is one that Indian consumers will find compelling,” commented Jon Medved, Vringo’s Chief Executive Officer.

Vringo is also said to be making the engaging Hungama multimedia content available via its existing services in the countries like UK, Malaysia and UAE. The company’s distributed cloud-based application architecture allows users to effortlessly search and download mobile videos. These videos can be set as video ringtones and be instantly shared with friends. Apart from Vringo’s alliance with Hungama, the company has developed content partnerships with popular content providers including T-Pain, Tiesto, EMI, Muhammad Ali, Marvel, Discovery Mobile, Turner, RTL, Agence France-Presse and Ingrooves.

“We are excited to provide together with Vringo an innovative video ringtone and mobile video service that leverages our powerful content. We believe the service will have mass appeal in India and for lovers of Bollywood content everywhere,” shared Neeraj Roy, Hungama’s CEO.

The new video ringtone platform service designed for mobile devices is currently live with 15 different Indian cellular operators.
