VoIP applications on iPhone now via AT&T wireless network

AT&T Logo AT&T is looking forward to strengthen its association with Apple by putting in efforts to enable VoIP applications on the iPhone. The network carrier claims that they have taken all the necessary steps that will facilitate VoIP applications on the iPhone via AT&T’s wireless network.

Earlier the US network carrier had offered a range of other wireless devices that enable VoIP applications on 3G, 2G and Wi-Fi networks. To present attractive options for its subscribers, AT&T was planning to introduce VoIP capabilities on iPhone for use on its 3G network from late summer.

According to Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets, “iPhone is an innovative device that dramatically changed the game in wireless when it was introduced just two years ago. “Today’s decision was made after evaluating our customers’ expectations and use of the device compared to dozens of others we offer.”

AT&T permits it subscribers to download or launch a plethora of compatible applications on their wireless devices directly from any lawful Internet website.

Further, the network carrier employs GSM technology, the ubiquitous and open wireless technology platform, to support customers using GSM phone that operates on AT&T’s frequencies.
