Vodafone to expand its 3G network in New Zealand

Vodafone and Nokia Siemens Network logo Vodafone is looking forward to expand its 3G service network in New Zealand. Nokia Siemens Network will provide site solution and optimization in this expansion and will help to bridge the communication gap.

With the introduction of this service, Vodafone customers across the country will be able to access high speed mobile broadband on 900 MHz network. The 3G network service will almost cover 97% of places including rural and urban areas in New Zealand.

Vodafone customers will not only be able to access mobile broadband but can also enjoy popular 3G features like mobile internet, video calling and full track music downloads. The 900 MHz network will allow users to take complete advantage of best technologies.

“Over half a million customers are enjoying the benefits of our 3G network today. We have invested nearly NZ$3 billion in New Zealand, continually improving and extending our network through a progression of technology evolutions. This allows us to refine and optimize the technology we have chosen, rather than starting from scratch and building a new network each time,” stated by Russell Stanners, CEO, Vodafone New Zealand.

The use of green Flexi base station and 900 MHz spectrum will deliver high speed packet access with great efficiency to Vodafone customers. The deployment of the service will result in 70% low power consumption which will substantially help to decrease the carbon footprint of the network.

The 900 MHz spectrum as well as the use of green Flexi base station means extended 3G network for a more efficient build. Vodafone offers customers best choice of telecommunication needs from mobile phones to mobile broadband and even landlines and fixed broadband as well.

Vodafone will expand its 3G network service in New Zealand by May 31, 2009.
