Vodafone plans to unveil LiMo based handset

Vodafone LiMo Handset Amidst the various innovative platforms that drive the mobile phones these days is the LiMo(Linux Mobile) Operating System that will seemingly power a Vodafone handset. Some images of the so called Vodafone handset were spotted byBGR.

It seems that the LiMo driven mobile phone might be the Samsung Riedel l8305, however neither of the images that were spotted reveal the name of the handset. The Riedel l8305 recently received Wi-Fi certification. The Samsung handset is packaged in a steel case that boasts of a huge OLED touchscreen display complete with haptic feedback.

Reportedly, the Vodafone handset may come with an 8 megapixel camera. Besides this, it seems that Vodafone People service will also be launched simultaneously. Rumor mills claim that the service involves Vodafone’s acquisition of Zyb. Further, the service also incorporates active contacts, location information, status updates, integration with social networks sites like Twitter and Facebook.

Rumors are hovering around claiming that the LiMo driven phone will be launched at a special event that would be held in London on September 24, 2009. There is no official word as far as the specifications of this mysterious handset are concerned, so stay tuned.
