Driving all the way through heavy traffic area is hateful, especially when late to reach the destination. Keeping this scenario in mind, Visteon Corporation has unpacked a new mobile application, the TrafficJamCam, for the iPhone. The application provides the entire view of the traffic area to the user.

The TrafficJamCam app offers its customers with images of the current road situation. It displays the traffic jams and the actual whereabouts of the road by clicking images. This allows the app users to plan their route accordingly with the appropriate route through the traffic jams.

T.C. Wingrove, Visteon’s senior manager for electronics innovation said, “Our research shows that consumers continue to rely on mobile electronic devices and want to use them to stay connected while driving. Visteon’s commitment to helping consumers stay informed and providing leading-edge automotive electronics products makes this mobile application a useful and timely in-vehicle connectivity solution.”

The TrafficJamCam app follows a licensed agreement with TrafficLand, Inc. It also incorporates an internet-based map that offers its users with live feeds with the help of live traffic camera. Drivers can choose the camera they wish, to view the traffic. It helps the user to choose their routes to avoid cramped areas or to simply check out what is happening on the roads outside by sitting at one place. The TrafficJamCam includes search function, camera view and a map view.

Wingrove also added “It’s not a huge technical leap to adapt this application from a phone to an in-vehicle infotainment system. The feedback we can glean from consumers will help us refine the system, and will enable an enhanced solution by the time automakers are ready to launch an in-vehicle application.”

The TrafficJamCam app is available for purchase at the iTunes online store. It offers different applications to view the traffic in 17 major U.S. metropolitan areas namely Atlanta, Boston, Chicago/Indiana, Charlotte, N.C., Denver, Detroit, Jacksonville, Fla., Las Vegas, Memphis, Tenn., Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Ohio/Northern Kentucky, Orlando, Fla., Phoenix, Riverside, Calif., Seattle and Washington, D.C.

The TrafficJamCam app is sold for $2.99. Consumers are free to mark their feedback and input about the app through iTunes as well as Visteon’s website. The TrafficJamCam app is presently available as an app for hand-help devices but is predicted to be set in vehicles latter for easy driving and mapping through roads.
