Virgin Mobile cuts down local call rates to half on GSM

Claimed to be the industry’s friendliest local calling pack at Rs. 45, users can now call a local number for only 1paise/2seconds. With a validity of 30 days, this pack is accessible across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Orissa, Mumbai and Maharashtra circles.

Madhusudan Mandyam, CEO, Virgin Mobile, India, commented, “Our research shows that youth have a high propensity to talk more and are always on the lookout for innovative budget solutions to address their mobility needs. This pack is specially designed for Indian youth who are on per second tariff, giving them a leeway to make local calls for longer duration without burning a hole in their pockets.”

The advantages of this budget-friendly pack would be obtainable to Virgin Mobile users on minute as well as second billing profiles. Virgin Mobile wishes to expand its motive of aiding youth leverage and use the power of their network of friends with this new offering on its GSM network.

Users on per minute tariff are provided a separate tariff proposition of 20p/min for STD and local calls to any Virgin Mobile number. Virgin Mobile users calling any other network will have to shell out 40p/min for local and 50p/min for STD calls.
