Vine tunes it up to 720p HD videos only for iOS users

Vine users will soon be able to share and watch their favorite 6-second looping videos in high definition format. The company’s blog has announced that the Twitter-owned enterprise is switching from a lower 480p resolution to a crisper 720p one.

iPhone users will be able to upload and view their Vine videos as soon the new high quality video update is released. But people with Android phones should be content with only watching these looping clips in 720p for now, as the uploading feature for this OS will be added later. As written in the company’s blog post by API lead Mike Kaplinskiy, the better looking ‘Vines’ will hopefully also be be embedded in other websites.

Whether this improvement will be seen in Vine Kids, the recent addition by the company just for children, was not disclosed. The upgrade by Vine should keep it in contention with Instagram which supports 640p resolution and Facebook that recently added an embed video feature for other sites on the web. The new move by the company will definitely improve the quality and possibly even the viewership of these 6-second videos.

The 720p clips will also help dedicated Viners to upload much better looking content by using HD recording equipment. Another outcome of this upgrade is that the difference between the 480p and 720p videos can be spotted without too much trouble. The two-year-old Twitter-acquired platform has presented its growing audience with new support like ‘private messaging’ to share clips and chat among a specified group as well as a ‘favorite’ feature that allows users to get updates on a preferred profile.
