Verizon reduces prices of smartphones extensively

Verizon Wireless Logo After revealing plans to launch several low to mid-range handsets soon, Verizon Wireless is all set to offer most smartphones at an extremely reduced rate. According to Crunchgear, the network provider has slashed the prices of its smartphones to $99 with an option to choose a new two-year agreement.

By this newly introduced price, the company has follows AT&T’s pricing for the iPhone. Recently launched handsets such as the HTC Touch Pro, the BlackBerry Storm and several others will be offered for $99 with brand new contracts.

Except BlackBerry Tour, all BlackBerry devices will be presented for $100 or less. With an exception of the Samsung Saga, all other smartphones will also be marketed for $100 or less. The Tour and the Saga will be shipped for $199.99 with a new two-year contract.

The HTC Pro and the BlackBerry Storm 2 are the two phones which are speculated to hit the markets shortly. It is also believed that these reduced prices should help Verizon sell old smartphones faster, with an expectation to launch new ones soon.
