Very soon Europeans will be able to use and throw their phones away. Yes that’s right! US-based device maker ‘Hop-on’ has revealed that an unidentified European distributor has placed orders for 10,000 disposable phones as a testing phase.
Aimed at emergency use, the phones will be sold at very affordable rates as $20 USD which converts to EUR 13 or £10. Peter Michaels, President of Hop-on said, “Response to our simple, inexpensive, $20 phone was phenomenal. The initial test purchase order with multiple purchase orders behind it is a big step in introducing Hop-on to Europe.”
The phones will operate on a 900/1800 MHz and will not feature a screen. The phone has only the basic required features for making and receiving calls and this phone will be apt for travelers and during periods of emergency. The distributor and the launch date of the ‘use and throw’ phone yet remains a mystery.
