Following close on the heels of its ultra low cost counterpart, the Aakash tablet, the UbiSlate 7+ is all set to make its debut in India and it’s now available for pre-order online. Developed by the same parent company, DataWind, this slate sports a slightly higher price tag and comes integrated with more functions than the Aakash.

The forthcoming slate operates on a Connexant processor along with a graphics accelerator and an HD video processor. While the Aakash was aimed at the student brigade in the country, this tablet has been developed for catering to the masses, irrespective of age and profession. It comes equipped with 256MB of RAM and 2GB internal memory which is capable of being expanded up to 32GB via the microSD card slot.

Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO of DataWind, explained, “This is a made-in-India product. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this. The final goal is to either provide the same features at a lower cost or provide better functionality and features at the same cost.”
