TravellingWave rolls out voice-powered text prediction for handsets

TravellingWave Logo Mobile phone usage has now become more intuitive with the introduction of the latest input technology known as the VoicePredict by TravellingWave.

With the VoicePredict application, mobile users can input text using their voices and by typing one or two letter key presses per word they speak. The app enhances all types of interfaces namely touch, QWERTY keyboard and reduced-keypads. VoicePredict facilitates quick insertion of emoticons, SMS-shortcuts, and contact names. Further, it seems to be a powerful interface to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

The innate app facilitates reliable voice and text communication with the capability to personalize according to the user’s choice. VoicePredict automatically switches between voice powered text prediction and plain text prediction. Further, users need not undergo anspecial speech training for using this app.

The Voice Prediction accuracy can be summed up as 90 percent for 1 letter input, 95 percent for 2 letter input, 99 percent for 3 letter input, and an overall voice recognition task completion accuracy of about 100 percent. However, the Voice Prediction speed can be calculated as 75 percent reduction in number of key-presses on QWERTY handsets, 85 percent decline in key-presses on 10-key mobile phones.

Apparently, the application is now in its beta stage and is available for Windows Mobile smartphones. The application is expected to be made available for the iPhone and Android platforms by early 2010.
