T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 9315 price and release date out in the open

The price of the T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 9315 and its release date has been announced and the device should be on shelves this month itself. The phone is an identical twin of the 9310 which surfaced last year on July 12.

The BlackBerry Curve 9315 will be running the 7.1 OS. Call it bad timing or business strategy, the handset will be out not many days prior to the BB10 platform is set to be launched, which is on January 30, 2013. Whether the phone will receive any attention at all, remains to be seen.

T-Mobile Phone

Like we mentioned earlier, the handset holds no specifications that are different from its doppelganger barring the name tag. It weighs 104 grams and measures 109mm x 60mm x 12.7mm in dimensions. The device provides shelter to a 2.44-inch TFT LCD screen with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution on the upper half of the front section. It carries forward the Curve legacy and shows off a 35-key backlit QWERTY pad with a button dedicated to the flagship messenger.

There is no front-facing webcam and the flip side has been embedded with a 3.2MP camera. The snapper however packs decent features such as an LED flash, 4x digital zoom, image stabilization, geotagging and more. The internal storage capacity is merely 512MB, but the memory can be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD card. There is also 512MB of RAM.

The company keenly points at connectivity features like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and 3G that the phone will be bundled with. A 1,450mAh battery should able to provide users with up to 8 hours of talk time or standby of approximately 18 days. The device might just survive through roughly 70 hours of music playback, provided a headset is used.

The BlackBerry Curve 9315 will be available through T-Mobile for a price of $49.99 and $10 monthly rentals for 20 months via the carrier’s Equal Installment Plan and a two-year contract. Buyers will also have the choice to take it home for $49.99 following a $50 mail-in rebate together with a two-year service agreement. It is expected to be out for business customers by the 16th and will be sold commercially starting January 23, 2013.
