We may have known about Sony looking forward to launch the Xperia Tablet Z in India through certain e-retailers, but the company has arrived with the slate way before the outlets’ estimated release date and pegged it at the previously predicted price. The sleek device had been earlier put up for pre-order for Rs 44,990, whereas the manufacturer has laid it on the table with a label of Rs 46,990.
Following in the footsteps of its smartphone counterpart, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z also features dust- and water-resistance, owing to its IPX5/7 certification. It has been pre-loaded with Android 4.1 platform and conceals a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with four cores, each of which has been clocked at 1.5GHz.
Seen on the top right corner of the device’s back panel is an 8.1MP camera, while using which, owners will witness a host of attributes including an Exmor R sensor, 16x digital zoom, sweep panorama, touch focus and more. A 2.2MP webcam happens to be residing on the front panel, with a capacitive Mobile Bravia Engine 2 touchscreen acting as its neighbor.
The 10.1-inch Xperia Tablet Z, which had managed to turned heads at the MWC with its 6.9mm thin frame, can still be pre-ordered through Flipkart, Saholic and Infibeam or bought via Snapdeal at a reduced retail value. But then again, buyers will miss out on the complementary 16GB memory card which the company has tossed into the pack that is purchased through its official outlet. Even if they are willing to let that go, the device in any case proffers 16GB of internal storage space and an option to expand this by up to 64GB via a microSD card, which may not be a bad deal in itself after all.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z can be spotted on the e-store packing a free premium case as an introductory offer, which originally bears a price tag of Rs 2,990. Keeping in mind its steep retail value, Sony has made it available on an EMI basis with zero percent processing fees, similar to BlackBerry and Samsung.
