Sony is yet to go official with the Xperia Tablet Z in India, but certain online retailers have already put the device up for pre-order with a tentative release date and price of under Rs 45,000. According to these web portals, the slate will start shipping in the first week of the next month or as early as June 3.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z brings some really powerful features to the table. It makes the most of a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor which should extend support to multiple applications at the same time. The chipset is said to tick at a maximum speed of 1.5GHz. Featuring 2GB of RAM, the device offers 16GB of internal memory and allows expanding it further with the assistance of a microSD card of not more than 64GB capacity.
Embedded with a SIM card slot, this gadget boasts of the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS. And if the track record of the company in question is anything to go by, it will soon receive an OTA update for the latest version of the platform. The front panel of the slab is graced by a 10.1-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen powered by Bravia Engine 2 delivering images in 1920 x 1200p resolution. It has a shatter-proof sheet on top and claims to withstand water and dust too.
Casual photographers will appreciate an 8.1MP primary camera with attributes like Exmor R sensor, LED flash, 16x digital zoom and full HD video recording amongst others. The Sony Tablet Z is also accessorized with a 2.2MP front-mounted webcam to facilitate face-to-face conferencing on the move. It draws power from a 6000mAh battery capable of coughing up video playback time of about 9 hours. All the aforementioned properties are crammed into a chassis with dimensions of 266 x 172 x 6.9 millimeters which tips the scales at 495 grams.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z official price details are yet to go public, but retailers like Flipkart and Snapdeal have already put it up for pre-order. Although its actual price is said to be Rs 46,990, these e-retailers are selling the device for Rs 44,990.
