The first good news in the New Year for tech lovers is that the cost of the Sony Tablet S has now been reduced by $100. Released around a month back, both variants of this slate, 16GB and 32GB, sport slashed price tags.

According to Engadget, this move by Sony claims to ensue its plan for a temporary $50 price cut that was revealed last month on December 15. Embedded with a 9.4-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen display, this mobile device offers a battery life of up to 8 hours. It is powered by the Nvidia Tegra2 processor and provides users with 1GB of internal memory.

One of the highlights of the Tablet S is the ‘throw’ feature that comes integrated with it. This functionality lets users wirelessly sync the mobile device with a PC, home theater or TV. Another interesting feature is the ‘Universal Remote’ which is basically an in-built infrared sensor that enables the Sony Tablet S to serve the purpose of a remote control for various devices such as TVs, stereos and DVD players.

This Sony slate operates on Android Honeycomb and lends support to Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity options. Furthermore, it comes equipped with a 5MP primary camera as well as a 0.3MP secondary snapper. Gamers can take advantage of pre-loaded titles such as Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes as well as download more classic PSone and PSP games online.

The 16GB version of the Sony Tablet S was originally priced at $500 but will now cost $400. It 32GB variant can now be bought for a price of $500 instead of the earlier $600.
