With Android 2.3 still weaving an unacquirable air around itself for HTC, the Desire might just have to cultivate some patience. However, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 users are slated to get the Gingerbread update in the beginning of August.

This upgrade will retain the device’s original camera features in the light of user feedback. The Facebook inside Xperia functionality will be on the aforesaid handset too. The version will include some Xperia arc features like pinch-to-overview gesture and desktop layout. It also includes attributes like Wi-Fi and USB tethering.

Apps can be stored on the SD card and there’s a customized horizontal app tray along with media experience icons as on the Xperia 2011 collection. Applications like Adobe Flash can be downloaded from the Android Market and the music player will come in with an integrated equalizer.

However, the gadget will not support DLNA due to the need for additional approvals. The roll out is expected for generic kits at the start. Even though certain operator kits may get the upgrade, some will not be able to update the customized version of the Xperia X10.
