So a number of Android phones are migrating to Android 2.1 leaving those with older versions of the OS feeling left out. If the UK Mobile Phone blog’s surmises are correct, the Sony Ericsson Experia X10 phone is expected to get multi-touch support and an upgrade to Android 2.1 in the second quarter of this year.

The Xperia X10 currently runs Google’s Android 1.6 OS. This tidbit about the phone likely to get an Android 2.1 upgrade was gauged from a Sony Ericsson representative’s words which stated that a very big update is scheduled for the second quarter of 2010.

The multi-touch expectations seem to stem from an unrevealed source that denied rumors about the touchscreen’s multi-touch limitations being hardware-based. Although specific details have not emerged, multi-touch capabilities may also be part of the updates.

The Android 2.1 and multi-touch upgrades for Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 haven’t received official confirmation as yet. ‘Wait and watch’ is the motto to be employed here for all those who call themselves mobile phone lovers and Xperia X10 owners.
