Verizon Wireless users who have been waiting to lay their hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play smartphone can now lend an ear to this piece of information. The network operator has finally released the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play smartphone for pre-order.

This Android 2.3 mobile phone amplifies the gaming experience with pre-loaded games such as Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot and Tetris. Users can also enhance their video game library with over 50 game titles which will be available for download through V CAST Apps.

The handset’s slide-out game pad optimizes the entire gameplay with a directional keypad, dual analog touch joystick, two shoulder buttons and the four iconic PlayStation symbol keys. These four iconic PlayStation symbol keys include circle, X, square and triangle. The device functions efficiently with the integrated 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon II processor with Adreno 205 GPU. Besides Adobe Flash player, the phone houses a 4-inch multi-touch display for an immersive viewing experience.

Users can personalize their Sony Ericsson Xperia Play smartphone with more than 200,000 apps through the Android Market. They can also benefit from mobile hotspot capabilities, rear-facing 5 megapixel camera and front-facing VGA camera. Google Mobile services such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search and Google Maps can be accessed with ease.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play can now be pre-ordered from the official website and in stores on May 26 for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Users will have to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless nationwide talk plan and a smartphone data package which begin at $39.99 and $29.99 monthly, respectively.
