Sony Ericsson unveils the latest phone in the Walkman series – W980. This brand new clamshell phone offers the best in sound quality with clear sound even at higher volumes. The W980 has an integrated FM transmitter making it easier for you to share your music by sending it to other devices with a FM radio receiver. The built-in stereo speakers make listening to quality music out loud an enjoyable experience. The listener can also personalize his music by choosing from eight equalizer presets depending on the kind of music.
This stylish, dual-screen phone has a 40 mm LCD screen on the top along with touch-sensitive control buttons which enable the user to access his music without going to the main menu. The W980 also has a 3.2 mega pixel camera, but its positioning is very inconvenient. Since the buttons used to take the picture are exactly opposite the camera, the fingers often tend to cover the lens. Also, the camera does not have a flash which means that taking pictures at night is pretty much impossible. The keypad is good, though the keys are widely spaced and may take some getting used to.
The W980 has a 8 GB internal memory but no slot for Memory Stick Micro or microSD cards. Another problem is that the phone does not have a 3.5 mm headphone socket which means that you must use a proprietary adaptor if you want to listen to music on your own earphones.
MP3, AAC, WAV and WMA files can be synchronized either through the Windows Media Player or drag and dropped through Windows.
