Sony Ericsson and Zapak.com to host gaming tournament in India

SE Play Zapak As per a joint report by KPMG and FICCI, the mobile gaming industry in India is expected to earn Rs. 17.1 billion by 2015. It seems that Sony Ericsson is all set to grab this opportunity. Sony Ericsson and Zapak.com announced a mobile gaming tournament ‘Be The Master of Games’ in India. The tournament will cover 11 cities over a month.

In the tournament, gamers will be divided into two groups namely corporate and regular gamers. Winners of both the groups will be crowned with the ‘Best Gamer’ title. The tournament will allow gaming enthusiasts to experience the Xperia Play phone powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon mobile processor and with integrated Adreno graphics.

Consumers will be able to enjoy the rich and vibrant ecosystem through this nationwide competition. “Qualcomm’s highly integrated Snapdragon processor with embedded Adreno 205 GPU works to power the high-performance, console quality game experience on the Xperia Play with extended hours of game-play between charges.”, commented Dr. Sandeep Sibal, vice president of Business Development for Qualcomm India and South Asia.

The ‘corporate gaming’ championship will be held across six metros, namely Delhi/NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Pune. Employees from more than 100 organizations will have an opportunity to present their gaming skills and team spirit. They will get a chance to represent their organization on a national level.

Gaming enthusiasts from Delhi/NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune get to try their fate by participating in the tournament through ‘Zapak Gameplexes’in their city. The competition will give participants a ‘hands-on’ feel of the Snapdragon enabled Xperia Play smartphone.

Sony Ericsson and Zapak.com’s ‘Be The Master of Games’ tournament will begin on June 24, 2011 across India.
