SMS bug troubling Nexus S to be fixed with OTA update

Nexus S Update

It was just yesterday that we got hit with word about the Nexus S’ upcoming launch for resident Gingerbread smartphone enthusiasts in Canada. Meanwhile, those who already own a Nexus S are set to receive an OTA update according to the official Samsung Galaxy S support page on Twitter.

Scheduled to be rolled out within the next few days, the software update is meant for fixing an SMS bug teasing Nexus S users. Apparently, text messages deployed from the phone have been unintentionally wending their way to the wrong contacts. It also appears that some users have been coming across different messages instead of the ones intended to be accessed on opening the messaging application.

Though Google will obviously have been working hard to right this problem, it’s been a long time coming since the issue surfaced a weeks ago. We’ll just have to wait and see if the forthcoming OTA update will keep to the promise tweeted out and prevent messages from reaching the wrong contacts.
