With the increasing demand for multimedia-centric applications, manufacturers are forced to develop highly personalized and smart mobile phones. According to the new smartphone reports revealed by Juniper Research, the sale of smartphones will be high and will account for 23% of all mobile phones sold per annum by 2013.

The success story of the Apple store reports that 300 million applications were downloaded by iPhone users within five months of its launch. The easy usage of applications available at the App Store has provoked many other players like Nokia, RIM and Goggle to jump into the application market.

According to smartphones report author Andrew Kitson: “As vendors increasingly open up the operating system software on their devices, so will the rate at which mobile handsets evolve into personalized Internet-centric mobile computers gather momentum. In this way, users are having an indirect impact on the way in which devices are changing their form and function as well as how they interact with their surroundings. Very soon, the majority of new phones will be smartphones.”

As per the findings, the sale of smartphones will still remain high even during the recession time. Since pricing of phones have become attractive and users can also get various enhanced features and functions in one device.

Mobile phones that offer users an easy way of communication with rich functions are preferred mostly. There are various smartphones available in the market that offer rich and enhanced services to the users.

The new reports also reveals that the annual sales of smartphones will reach somewhere around 300 million by 2013.
