Siano unleashed the SMS2130 advanced receiver chip in Latin America for mobile phones

Siano logoThis tidbit should grab the attention of mobile enthusiasts looking forward to integrate new technologies in their handsets. Siano revealed an advanced receiver chip dubbed as SMS2130 for Latin America. With support of the ISDB-T mobile technology, users can further enjoy an enhanced experience while watching TV on their handy devices.

Also known as ISDB ‘1-Seg’, this MDTV receiver is designed to satiate users in terms of performance as well as cost. Keeping in mind the specific needs of the Latin American consumers market, this advancement brings in new levels of optimizations which are designed specifically for the ISDB-T Standard-based Mobile Terminals. With this service, users can comfortably watch their favorite TV programs anywhere and anytime right on their handsets.

“Siano-based products have been selling in high volumes in Brazil for a few months now under the leading mobile operators such as Vivo, Claro and TIM. The introduction of the SMS2130 enables our customers to keep rolling out new exciting MDTV in their mobile devices and terminals, using a receiver that is smaller in size, that has improved performance and extremely low power consumption,” commented Pompilio Roselli, Siano’s General Manager for the LATAM region. “It is targeted at the demanding consumer of LATAM, providing best user experience in the market.”

Alon Ironi, CEO of Siano, commented, “Siano already has the largest market share in mobile and portable devices that have mobile TV integrated. Our new single-die receiver chip enables us to further expand our market share, and help our customers introduce mobile TV to a whole new set of products such as Personal Navigation Devices, Personal Media Players, Portable TV’s and more, first in Brazil but very soon in Argentina, Chile, and other LATAM countries. The consumers are enthusiastically adopting the new digital-based TV experience, because the current viewing experience is poor on other devices that use old Analog signals. The SMS2130 is Siano’s first member in a complete new family of products for the LATAM market, which we will announce in the next few months.”

Presently the service is available in more than 40 cities in Brazil. By 2011, the company is planning to release advanced data and interactive services as well.
The SMS2130 is accessible as samples to selected consumers. The company claims that the service is already available with a few customers manufacturing electronic products as well as mobile phones.
