Shazam updates its Music Discovery Apps for iPhone and iPod touch

Shazam Encore

Earlier this month, Shazam joined forces with Pandora and Last-fm for unveiling Encore and (SHAZAM) RED iPhone apps. Now the company reveals vital feature updates that extend to iPhone 4 features and iOS4 operating system. These attributes are compatible with all Shazam versions for the iPhone and iPod touch such as Shazam Encore, Shazam RED Special Edition App and Shazam free App.

As they support multitasking feature on iOS4, users can keep aside the Shazam App and use another function like purchase music on iTunes or make a call and return back to the app when done. It is also optimised for the iPhone 4’s new retina display rendering the images more clear. The settings can even be customized like ‘tagging on start-up’, enhanced video experience, better artist information, new ‘Discover’ tab and Shortcut icons.

“This is a major enhancement for our customers,” stated Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam. “Whether it is Shazam’s free, premium or (RED) version, we have made a significant investment to provide the most intuitive, interactive and immersive discovery experience yet. 20 million music lovers are already using Shazam on the iPhone and iPod touch and we’re confident that our new design and feature update will encourage more discovery, sharing and buying of music than ever before.”

With this new inclusion, users can access loads of features such as access to Tag Charts from around the world, a search function and 30-second clip previews of tagged tracks. They will also be able to upgrade to Shazam Encore from any App. The premium version which lasts for a year is priced at $2.99 (approx. Rs. 138) while lifetime is $4.99 (approx. Rs. 231). The premium versions of Shazam Encore and (SHAZAM) RED bear a cost of $4.99.
