Send money through Google Glass Wallet app, it can be that simple and scary

You may be able to send money through Glass if the Google Wallet app undergoes successful testing, according to a new report doing the rounds of the internet. For those of you who don’t know what Glass is, picture a post-smartphone world in which geek fashion rules and everyone is walking around with a pair of high tech spectacles, making a spectacle of themselves, pun unintended.

Google Glass is supposed to be that wearable gadget which could replace smartphones and sport camera, voice/video calling, texting and other relevant capabilities. All the information you need to know about directions to a particular place, how the weather is going to be like, the time and creepily enough, basic information about people around you, can literally be beamed directly to your eyeballs. But it won’t be restricted to looking up data such as this.

The Google Wallet app which is apparently being tested internally is expected to let users send money directly to their friends’ accounts via online transfer. They may be able to do this in the future by merely employing voice command to ask Glass to execute the task. This may sound like quite a scary idea to those of you who’ve tried something like hands-free control on the Moto X. The phone is supposed to be tuned into the owner’s voice only, but we’ve tested the handset and seen it fail to distinguish between different people’s voices.

We’re sure Google won’t let something which is supposed to be as secure as a method of online payment reach end users without chiseling it to perfection. But what if someone was to grab various recordings of your voice and stitch them up to say the necessary command? Even fingerprint sensors can be fooled, as we’ve reported previously. TechCrunch says that it’s not surprising for the company to be considering the Wallet app for its wearable since it has already made the service available to Gmail users.

In the current testing phase, those mucking about with the Wallet app can send money through Google Glass by signing into the company’s corporate network and installing the software.
