Samsung and Tata Motors join forces to introduce car infotainment system

Samsung and Tata Motors have revealed that they have entered into a partnership and the former will be responsible for installing car infotainment system in the latter’s vehicles. These technologically advanced vehicles will hit the roads of India sometime in the year 2015.

According to an article on Economic Times, Tata’s passenger cars will be equipped with the Drive Link application developed by Samsung. It will be based on the MirrorLink technology and will come in handy for the purpose of navigation. Drivers should even be able to answer calls and browse the internet using the app. Also, streaming music will be a lot more simplified.

The project has already been underway for six months now and in an interview to PTI, Tata Motors Passengers Vehicles Unit President, Ranjit Yadav said that the infotainment system will not be limited to expensive cars. Even those who go for the volume segment cars can look forward to the advanced technology.

Samsung who is in a similar partnership with BMW, wishes to make it possible for drivers of Tata Motors’ vehicles to use their smartphones and tablets while in their cars, however, we don’t know how safe this will be. Let’s wait and watch what the two companies have in store for us.
