Samsung Stratosphere to retail through Verizon from October 13

After being subjected to many a speculation regarding its official arrival, the Samsung Stratosphere has finally been declared to start retailing from October 13 through Verizon. Last week, a leaked Verizon specs sheet had made its way to the web which detailed the various aspects of the upcoming handset.

And last month various pictures of this Samsung device had been leaked as well. The Stratosphere is a Galaxy S 4G LTE slider phone operating on Android Gingerbread. Running on the company’s 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird application processor, it features a 4-inch WVGA resolution Super AMOLED display.

This handset is reportedly the first Verizon 4G LTE phone to possess a full QWERTY keyboard. It comes equipped with a 1.3MP front-facing and a 5MP rear camera featuring LED flash. The smartphone will incorporate 512MB of RAM along with 4GB of internal storage and a pre-installed 4GB microSD card.

It supports improved B2B-enabled connectivity services from Cisco and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled phone also provides secure remote device management from Sybase Afaria.

The forthcoming device is integrated with the Samsung Media Hub, a service which offers users a wide collection of films and TV shows for rent or purchase. Additionally, it possesses mobile hotspot capability, enabling users to share 4G and 3G connections with eight and five Wi-Fi enabled devices, respectively.

The Samsung Stratosphere will be available in Verizon Wireless stores as well as online at verizonwireless.com from October 13 onwards. It vends for a price of $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
