Samsung Showcase displayed in Cellular South portfolio

Cellular South Samsung As the Samsung Galaxy S sails to Japanese shores, a new handset offering from the company makes its way to U.S. Cellular South has just announced a new entrant to its Samsung Galaxy lineup known as the Samsung Showcase, model number SCH-i500. The handset flaunts a 4 inch super AMOLED touchscreen and a virtual QWERTY keypad with Swype technology.

This Android powered device runs on a 1 GHz Samsung Hummingbird Application Processor. It is pre-loaded with Google Mobile Services comprising of Maps, Search, YouTube, Gmail, Talk, Android Market among others. Featuring Samsung Social Hub, the phone integrates messages, social networking services, personal and business email, calendars as well as contacts. Moreover, two Cellular South original apps namely Text CS and Discover Apps, coupled with a third one dubbed the Barcode Scanner are pre-installed.

The Samsung Showcase proffers six-axis motion sensing with the help of a geo-magnetic and accelerometer sensors. The UI has been designed to cater advanced touchscreen gesture abilities such as long tap and zoom, multi-touch pinch, along with vertical and horizontal swiping. Bundling up features like integrated calendar services, ActiveSync, push email, Google and Yahoo access, this phone appears to be ideal for professionals. Incorporating the Samsung Media Hub, it will proffer a plethora of video and literary content. Samsung’s All Share application allows users to access inter-device connectivity with DLNA. Thus, they can effortlessly stream out content to other DLNA-enabled devices.

Sporting a 5.0-megapixel camera with auto-focus and HD video recording (720p), amateur photographers can capture all the sweet moments with this elegant device. Using features like a 3.5mm headphone jack, MP3 player and an expandable memory of up to 32GB, music aficionados might have a blast.
