Samsung Electronics revealed that it has recently launched a TD-HSDPA phone in China. Given the nickname Emerald, the GT-16320C lets users view mobile TV.

Samsung had developed TD-SCDMA technologies in 2003. TD-HSDPA is a 3.5G mobile communication technology that is a development from TD-SCDMA. It enables users to download files at 2.8Mbps which, according to Samsung, is a faster speed than TD-SCDMA.

Looking back in to the books of history, Samsung has previously presented an industry-first TD-SCDMA phone dubbed SGH L288 in April 2008, and then the company showed off its Windows mobile operating system-based SGH I688 in June 2008.

Now users are able to watch mobile TV around 150 cities in China as the GT-16320C supports Chinese mobile TV service, the China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CCMB).
