While many of us are busy checking out the latest smartphone on the block, those into tablets may not want to miss the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 16GB is now up for pre-order at Office Depot. It is priced at $399 and is expected to hit store shelves by May 11.

On the specifications front of the slate in question, ICS is the forerunner with a 1GHz dual core processor to follow. Connectivity options like Bluetooth v3.0 and a USB 2.0 port allow sharing of content between compatible devices, while Wi-Fi Direct and 802.11 b/g/n facilitate web surfing. Needless to mention, Samsung Hubs and Google services stay in place for providing access to a range of functions right from music to social networking to reading and more.

As for the price, CNET reports that people generally take notice when the cost of a slate drops below $400, and the scenario is almost the same here. The tablet functions on the HSPA+ network and is available in 2 versions of Wi-Fi and 3G. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Wi-Fi 16GB variant can be pre-ordered from Office Depot for a price of $399. It will start shipping from May 11 onwards.
