Samsung Galaxy S4 benchmarked, verifies 8 core Exynos 5

Spotting the Samsung Galaxy S4 on Antutu benchmark has opened the doors for newer possibilities, giving leverage to various rumors in the process. With a little over a week left for the smartphone to officially begin its journey, the readings have more or less outlined most of the specifications we have been looking forward to.

Well, the long term speculations pertaining to the SoC fitted in the Galaxy S4 should be settled now, seeing as the results have listed out the ARM architecture-based 1.8GHz Exynos 5 processor with 8 cores (quad core A15 and quad core A7). As opposed to the previously rumored Mali T-658 GPU, the CPU will be bagging in PowerVR SGX 544MP graphics.

High-end Android phone hunters should take note that this handset will be rocking the latest version of the OS out of the box. As expected, its display will fall 0.1-inch short as compared to that of a standard phablet, since the company has built a capacitive multi-touch screen stretching up to 4.99 inches, for whatever reasons. In any case, users will be given the privilege of viewing pictures and videos at a resolution of 1,980 x 1,080 pixels.

If we were to believe a post on SamMobile, the source of this news, the company should not be segregating the smartphone into variants based on its network compatibility. The reason behind this statement probably is the fact that the benchmark shows the device supporting 2G, 3G as well as 4G LTE all in one.

The upcoming flagship will however be split in two models as far the storage configuration goes. Apart from 16GB or 32GB onboard memory, it will be packing 2GB of RAM. A 13MP rear-facing camera featuring an LED flash and a 2.1MP front-mounted webcam will be present on the phone as well. The device shows support for WLAN and Bluetooth 4.0, although its Wi-Fi network compatibility goes undisclosed.

As of now, we can say for sure that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be launched in New York at the event named Unpacked on March 14. On the other hand, exact price and release date details have been withheld. The OEM should be coming forth with this information at the much awaited event, along with news concerning the battery, inbuilt features and more.
