The Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update is on its way to the US with fresh TouchWiz UI and camera enhancements. This particular smartphone will receive the upgrade over the air and users can also opt to download the software directly via Kies.
Those who have purchased the handset through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and U.S. Cellular will have to wait for these network providers to shed light on the exact timing and update method of the send-off. Coming back to what this update has to offer, users will have new live camera and camcorder filters like warm vintage, cold vintage, black and white, sepia and color highlights amongst others.
There’s also a pause and resume highlight that makes it easy to stop in the middle of a recording and continue shooting from wherever it was left off without having to edit clips. An update to Pop Up Play allows users to adjust the picture-in-picture video window size or pause content as per their needs.
As for the TouchWiz enhancements, first-time Android users will have an Easy Mode just like the one seen in the Pantech Marauder. It will provide large home screen widgets that will reduce the complexity while navigating through the smartphone. The upgrade will also bring in a Blocking Mode for barring incoming calls and notifications as well as an additional Swype Keyboard for quick input.
The Google Now application will now provide traffic updates and train schedules. Users can take advantage of the voice assistant in this app to get weather forecasts, flight status and much more. The widgets on the home screen will be more customizable, while the software will also introduce a fresh AllShare Cast Wireless Hub and NFC support.
While exact dates haven’t been mentioned, we do know that the Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update will be rolled out in the coming months across the US.
