The Samsung Galaxy S III has just posed for the shutterbugs at its official launch in London, giving us relief from all those hearsays which were going around for quite some time. The third generation member of the well accepted Galaxy S range is expected to start shipping in Europe by the end of May before its global rollout begins.

This fresh cookie from the South Korea-based manufacturer rakes in the goodness of the ICS OS, just as speculated. Its front panel is dominated by a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 1280 × 720p resolutions, while its flip side shows off an 8MP snapper. The primary camera offers attributes like face recognition, while there’s a front-facing sensor for video conferencing purposes. Available in color choices of pebble blue and marble white, the exterior of the phone has been tailored to reflect the elements of nature. It is available in 16GB or 32GB memory choices, with a 64GB variant in the offing. Additionally, the internal memory can be expanded via a microSD card of 64GB capacity.

“With the Galaxy S III, Samsung has maximized the consumer benefits by integrating superior hardware with enhanced smartphone usability. Designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the Galaxy S III has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind. What makes me most proud is that it enables one of the most seamless, natural and human-centric mobile experiences, opening up a new horizon that allows you to live a life extraordinary,” commented JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung.

On the software front, the company has thrown in a set of intuitive traits to elevate the experience with the phone. Attributes like Smart Stay, S Voice, Smart Alert and Direct Call use face, gestures and motion recognition technologies to simplify the functions. While NFC stays put, a refreshed version of Android Beam called S Beam is onboard. This feature can transfer a 1GB movie or 10MB music file between two Samsung Galaxy S III devices in just a few seconds by tapping them together, even in the absence of Wi-Fi or any other wireless network.
