The Samsung Galaxy S III Canada release date has been pushed back to June 27, according to a post on the company’s official Twitter page. This means that fans in the said country may have to wait a little longer to get started with their buying plans.

Just as expected, the reason that the company is postponing the date is apparently the smartphone’s ‘unprecedented demand.’ Most of us already know that the device has crossed over 9 million pre-bookings globally. And presently, that amounts to an extra 12-day wait to lay hands on what is being touted as the iPhone’s biggest rival.

With launch plans on an upswing, a host of carriers including Rogers, Telus, Mobilicity, SaskTel, Videotron, Virgin Mobile, Wind and Bell are in the race. According to a post on MobileSyrup, the Canada release date was previously marked at June 20. However, following this official announcement, the handset is expected to ship on June 27.

For those needing a reminder, the device sports a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display proffering images in resolutions of 1280 × 720p. It is available in two memory choices of 16GB and 32GB, and there’s an impending 64GB variant. Besides, the internal hoarding space can be extended via a slot for a 64GB microSD card. There’s an 8MP snapper as well a front-facing sensor for video conferencing. Coming to its ‘human’ side, an array of intuitive features like Smart Stay, Smart Alert and S Voice are thrown into the mix.

For now, the Samsung Galaxy S III Canada release date is chalked out at June 27.
