Samsung caught tweaking benchmark scores again, this time for Galaxy Note 3

Samsung has once again been found guilty of altering benchmark results and this time the company is concerned about the Galaxy Note 3. In the past, we had seen that the South Korean OEM tweaked the S4 so that its performance in these tests is up to the mark and it scores points higher than the other devices.

Benchmarks are used as one of the criteria to find out how a gadget fares when it comes to performance and it looks like these manufacturers take it very seriously. What else could be the reason why Samsung goes out of its way to ensure that its devices score better than their rivals? But considering that the company has been caught fiddling with the results for the second time, we highly doubt the authenticity of these tests.

If you are wondering how Samsung’s activities came to light, let us tell you that it’s the guys over at Ars Technica who have found out about the wrongdoing. According to this website, the smartphone has been optimized in such a way that for select few applications, it performs 20 percent better than what it would if it wasn’t tweaked.

What happens is, a special CPU mode kicks in as soon as one of those applications are activated and the scores obtained by the gadget are exceptionally well. Ars Technica got suspicious about this cheating after it noticed that the Note 3 is getting way more points than the LG G2 which has similar specifications and the exact same 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

It looks like Samsung is going a little overboard with the task of ensuring that it continues to rule the roost in the mobile phone department. What do you think?
