Samsung bada 2.0 SDK

Samsung recently released the latest updated bada 2.0 SDK which is an application development tool for its mobile platform. The company has updated its SDK to further support the worldwide distribution of bada smartphones which have apparently done well as far as global sales are concerned.

The first bada based smartphone was launched by Samsung in June last year. Samsung decided to update bada after the reported success of its seven Wave devices. According to them, consumers all over the world were impressed enough by the Wave devices’ cost effectiveness and features to make it popular in Europe, China and Southeast Asia.

Samsung bada 2.0 SDK comes with various new functionalities like multi-tasking and voice recognition. It incorporates support for Wi-Fi Direct as well as Near Field Communication (NFC). Users of the company’s smartphones will be allowed to share files without Internet networking, pay through their mobile phones and recharge transport pass-cards.

“bada is a significant innovation and a key component in Samsung’s multi-platform strategy; we are committed to investing in its success. We are expanding our developer community and creating a strong ecosystem that benefits both developers and end-users. Developers have an opportunity to reach a significant customer base with new, entertaining and compelling applications while consumers will receive an outstanding smartphone experience,” cited JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

With the aim of widening its developer community, the update is now capable of supporting standard WAC 2.0. It also accommodates HTML5 and enhanced Flash functions in order to deliver seemingly better usability and web experience. Through the Ads API (Application Programming Interface) the development kit now allows for insertion of in-app ads. Thus developers for bada 2.0 can look forward to creating newer revenue opportunities with ease.

The kit has even been equipped with an Emulator for aiding in the creation of a development process that is ideal for the target environment. The Profiler tool apparently improves the smartphone’s performance by utilizing resources such as memory and processing power to the maximum. With this upgraded 2.0 version it’s believed that more varied functions from Samsung Apps like the latest purchasing options and recommendations will be on offer for users.

The Samsung bada 2.0 SDK can be downloaded from the bada developer site, developer.bada.com.
