Samsung Application Store launched

Samsung Logo Samsung users will be thrilled as the company has launched its Application Store. The on-device application store is now available in the UK, France and Italy and will be followed by Germany and Spain. At the onset, the store will be accessible just for Omnia users and later on to other handsets like the Omnia II and Omnia Lite users.

Via the Samsung Application Store, smartphone users can now browse through a plethora of applications like games, references, social networking sites, e-books and health related tools. These applications are easily accessible and can be downloaded just by a click. The on-device app is offered in English, French and Italian languages and supports credit card billing by means of the mobile application store.

“With the launch of the Application Store, Samsung will increase mobile phone sales and add value for its mobile customers through the availability of carefully selected applications. The Application Store will expand the service channel, not only on handheld devices but also on PCs through the launch of new PC software. The software willallow customers to download applications and manage them on a PC to maximize service and usability,” stated Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Media Solution Center.

Phone billing option will also be supported in sometime. Omnia users need to upgrade their devices in order to avail the services of the Application Store. Even users who have not signed in as a member of the Store can purchase free as well as paid applications via the phone billing payment option. Applications are presented by Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Handmark, TAITO, Paragon SW, Capcom, Com2us, Prompt, Pearson, Longman, Bokan Tech and Diotek and more.

The store is designed to display the appropriate application catalog depending on the Samsung handset owned by the user. The company claims to add more features, device support and languages, all through the year.
