To combine the strengths of mobile world and the financial institutional Rogers Wireless a leading provider of wireless voice and data communication services across Canada has pleasingly partnered with RBC and Visa to offer a next level of Mobile Phone Payment Pilot. The Canadians will no longer have to worry about the safety of the payment as this pilot will allow them to purchase confidentianally through their mobile phones.

Mobile Phone Payment Pilot allows flexible and secure transactions. The customers can enjoy this facility as long as they are using specially-equipped mobile phones that can simply be used at Visa payWave at selected retail stores and for fast services at the restaurants as well. Motorola mobile phones inherited with the Near Field Communication (NFC) contactless chips that facilitate the customers to perform their transactions using the Visa payWave in a similar way as they would with contactless RBC Visa card. There will be number of tests in the Pilot that will test for secure transactions and safe payment through mobiles.

The pilot will have an opportunity to be the first to test the security of delivery of mobile payments and credit card information to a customer device over-the air (OTA). RBC Visa chip cards will take care of the transformation of credit card information using the high level encryption method from RBC to the secured SIM card in the Rogers Wireless NFC enabled phones.

RBC, the first financial institution in Canada to announce payment via mobile phones and was also the first one to introduce credit card with chip technology. Such kind of services will help the mobile dealers to better understand the customer’s mode of payments and to introduce more easier and safe methods to benefit their customers in future.
