RIM to launch front-facing camera on BlackBerry smartphones next year?

BlackBerry Smartphone BlackBerryCool reports that apparently RIM will launch front-facing cameras on BlackBerry smartphones early next year. This feature will not only be useful for video conferencing but will also open up lots of possibilities for apps. For instance, users of the YearBookYourself app can benefit from the front-facing camera.

Additionally, video conferencing has its advantages in the business arena as well. For instance, via this method users can demonstrate to their clients that they are focused on their deal.

This news is based on speculation and rumor. There is no concrete evidence that this is going to happen. Moreover, the name of the RIM executive who provided this information is not known.

The RIM executive was reportedly asked about his opinion on the iPhone owning a front-facing camera to which he supposedly answered that “we are fortunate to have our relationships with many different carriers, some of which can handle something like live video-conferencing.”

He further stated that video conferencing will revolutionize the mobile arena. It is something RIM has been considering and toiling on for a considerable amount of time.
