Rhomobile Rhodes 1.2 for iPhone, BlackBerry devices

Rhomobile Rhodes 1.2 Rhomobile recently publicized the Rhodes 1.2 featuring push support to enable ‘instantly synchronized data’ on the iPhone and BlackBerry devices. From now on, Rhodes will employ the iPhone 3.0 SDK push APIs and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Push APIs to permit instantaneous updates of vital application information to users handsets.

With the introduction of this innovative framework, developers can make use of their existing HTML proficiency to design robust native applications. The applications can be developed for smartphones such as the iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android. The framework facilitates users to operate on synced local data for speedy access, even if they are disconnected or offline.

“The Rhodes smartphone application development framework provides us with powerful tools to create robust, cross-platform native applications. The addition of push data capabilities in Rhodes 1.2 allowed us to add alerting features to our application such as customized, real-time notifications when network outages occur. Building on Rhodes minimizes our time to market and helps us deliver innovative solutions that give mobile employees a competitive advantage,” quoted Dan Turchin, CEO of Aeroprise, a leading provider of Mobile Service Management applications and Rhomobile ISV.

The smartphone application framework aims to minimize the development costs up to five times. This is made possible by asking developers to code native smartphone applications in HTML instead of in Objective-C or other intricate native device operating system languages. This innovative framework facilitates the development of native mobile apps that capitalize on device features like GPS, PIM data and camera. Further, the framework also provides productivity benefits of web programming.

The Rhodes framework is available online at Rhomobile’s official site. Rhodes 1.2 offers flexible pricing options, including low cost options for enterprises to enable their mobile workforce and motivates entrepreneurial innovation. Rhomobile presents dual license models, under GPLv3 for open source apps and commercial licensing options for enterprises and Independent Software Vendors.
