Recursion rolls out Voyager 7.2

Recursion Voyager Roadmap

Recursion releases the new version of its software, the Voyager 7.2. This new version is a pervasive software platform permitting software developers to write a single set of APIs for peer-to-peer, peer-to-group and peer-to-enterprise application messaging. These applications are applicable for the suite of all high-end smartphones that include iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Limo, and Maemo. Smartphone users can share contacts and other personal information (PIM), location data, media files and more with Voyager-driven applications. It also allows sharing of data collection, fleet, asset and workforce management with other enhanced mobile applications. Voyager developers and solution providers can reach out to market and accelerate their businesses by creating complete device-independent applications.

An ever-growing issue for application developers and hardware manufacturers is the complicated problem of mobile fragmentation. This problem forces them to develop softwares compatible with several operating systems available in the market. With every new release, companies can decide which devices they want their applications to support. The Voyager application offers a solution to this problem by enhancing development and reusing the code on several platforms.

“The addition of iPhone makes Voyager the only software communications platform developers need to reach a rich customer pool while future-proofing their applications,” said Bob DeAnna, CTO Recursion Software. “Going forward, Recursion will now focus future development efforts on building universally available application components, with corresponding remotely accessible services and APIs to further empower organizations to build advanced, real-time, information sharing applications that span all devices, while also further easing mobile development across all smartphones.”

With the release of this version, users can view the demonstration of shared PIM information and file sharing across multiple devices. It offers users distributed address book contacts and multimedia files among communities of devices without accessing a computer, server or cloud. This is possible with the Voyager’s location-aware decentralized group application messaging over any Telco or WiFi network. These capabilities add to the continuous effort of Recursion of enhancing universal mobile collaboration, unified communication and information sharing.

The capabilities of Voyager 7.2 will be demonstrated at the 2009 CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment Conference. A developer community version of Voyager application is available for download at the official site of Recursion for free.
